And now we a head a bit south and to the west side of the Hudson to the hamlet of Palenville in Greene County. This sweet log cabin is situated along the Kaaterskill Creek in arguably one of the prettiest area in all of the Catskills. Mountain views, streams, green forests that turn gold and red in the autumn make up the area around Palenville, and when summer rolls back around, there are swimming holes galore. Now we’re down south in Orange County for our final two picks of the week. This brick beauty is in the quaint village of Cornwall-on-Hudson. Perched up on a slight incline, the Colonial-style house has all kinds of curb appeal and is in a visible spot in the village, which could be a bonus since it’s also zoned for commercial use. Love the exposed brick inside and the big front porch. If you don’t know about Orange County property taxes, you might want to hold onto your hat. Situated on a good bit of land. Beds: 3. Baths: 2. Washingtonville is a village about 20 minutes west of Cornwall-on-Hudson along the shores of the Moodna Creek, and this octagonal c.1950s cottage is just outside of the center of town and the Brotherhood Winery, the country’s oldest winery. It’s cute and cheerful with a large kitchen, large patio, and an in-ground pool. Although it’s sitting on plenty of land, the taxes are pretty outrageous for house for less than $300,000.
