john street rendering brooklyn bridge park 82014

Excavation and site work is moving along at the Main Street section of Brooklyn Bridge Park in Dumbo. The former Department of Environmental Protection building at 1-19 Plymouth Street looks like it’s already getting some improvements, and the small paint shed and garage next door at 121 Plymouth Street was demolished earlier this summer.

We found this rendering on the fence, which might be what the DEP building will look like once construction finishes. The revamped building will be a 1,700-square-foot park facility with restrooms, community space and an environmental center.

Just to the east at John Street Park, the little stretch of waterfront has been cleared for more new park land and a 96,440-square-foot condo development. In the fall, Alloy Development is expected to begin construction on its mixed-use condo project, which will include 47 units, an annex for the Brooklyn Children’s Museum, and ground floor retail.
