43 montrose avenue williamsburg 72014

This new building at the corner of Lorimer and Montrose hit the market earlier this month with 20 rentals and bizarre design choices that would not be out of place in a club. Prices at 49 Montrose Avenue (or 334 Lorimer Street) range from $2,750 for a 1.5 bedroom to $3,295 a month for a two bedroom.

The apartments feature red counters and neon lighting. Renters have their choice of red or blue neon accent lighting in the kitchen, and blue or green neon accent lights in the shower. And it’s in the entry hall too, so even the lobby has a club vibe.

Besides the red countertops and black, white and gray backsplashes, the units have central A/C, dishwashers, stainless steel appliances and little terraces. The building amenities include a shared roof deck, laundry and a gym.

The exterior is, frankly, ugly, in our opinion, with its unrelated halves and multiplicity of clashing openings — but at least it looks like the apartments will be sunny. We give them props for lots of windows, and big ones too. Do you think these will find a ready market in Williamsburg?
