House of the Day: 160 Bainbridge Street

This landmarked house in Stuyvesant Heights, one of a pair, has some sick original detail, including elaborate Queen Anne wood work, stained glass and a huge original kitchen range. It also has some unfortunate later alterations — jacuzzi tub, we’re looking at you —  but most of them look relatively easy to undo.

Built circa 1892 and designed by an unknown architect, the “chateauesque” limestone has a course of brownstone on the ground floor and a projecting bay window of pressed tin, says the LPC designation report.

It’s set up as a rental over an owner’s triplex, and although it looks to be in move-in condition, we would think a buyer would probably want to redo the kitchens and baths. There’s an open house scheduled for Sunday from 4:30 to 6 pm. What do you think of it for $1,999,999?
