Finger Building Going up on Herkimer

The new building permit says a four-story, eight unit building is going up at 337 Herkimer Street in Bed Stuy. The permits also mention a mezzanine, so perhaps that adds another story. The rendering shows six stories, and the actual building itself is already up to five stories — and it looks like another is on the way.

This was previously an empty lot, which traded for $220,000 in March of last year. Construction is supposed to wrap in the fall. The design looks pretty standard for new infill, but doesn’t seem to go very well with the unusual building to the right or the Permastone veneer to the left. What do you think of it?
