Wholesale ice cream maker Brooklyn Bell Foods is opening a storefront on Classon Avenue in Crown Heights just in time for summer. Owners Ron and Kati Cunningham searched for a space where they could produce ice cream and sell it, and they found both in their little shop at 843 Classon between Lincoln and Eastern Parkway.

Brooklyn Bell’s the Local will offer their handmade granola bars and ice cream, including flavors like black lava caramel, brown butter pecan and the Rocky Road-inspired “Detroit City Rocks.” The Kensington natives plan to open their shop in the next two weeks. Until now, the couple prepped their products at a food incubator in Industry City, and they’re looking forward to having their own kitchen. If you want to track their progress, you can follow them on Facebook or Twitter.

  1. Excited for this too, hopefully it lessens our walks to Ample Hills as we live on the block.

There’s now a pretty good selection of ice cream joints: ample hill on vanderbilt, blue marble on underhill, washington has nothing, the local on classon, tinto on nostrand (which sells blue marble).
