Flemish Brasserie Coming to Long-Defunct Space on Corner of Grand and Bedford

We noticed a new tenant had filed a liquor license for a restaurant in the long-shuttered but prominent space at the corner of Bedford Avenue and Grand Street in Williamsburg when we passed by recently. The owner of Radegast, the beer hall a few blocks from here, plans to open a Flemish “gastro” brasserie in the 3,500-square-foot space, according to The Brooklyn Eagle. The entrance faces the corner and is hard to miss with its round window encircled by a wreath and capped by a pediment and columns.

We would not be surprised to learn this space was originally a bar. The Beaux Arts style neo-Classical building at 292 Bedford Avenue sold for $6,000,000 about a year ago to an LLC with an address in the Hasidic section of South Williamsburg. Should be quite a change for this corner. GMAP
