This two-story house at 764 Metropolitan Avenue may bite the dust for a six-story apartment building. Plans call for 10 apartments spread across 11,598 square feet of residential space on the narrow East Williamsburg lot, according to a new building application.

Designed by the Redd Group, the proposed building will include storage, two duplexes on the uppermost floors, and a roof deck. No demolition permits have been filed for the house yet. GMAP

  1. Awe man. I hope nothing happened to the little old guy who owned the house. Last spring he had a medical emergency as we were standing beside each other in the train station and I had to go up and call 911. He had recently had an organ transplant and had to have been 80+. Prayers for the guy.

As for the house I don’t see it lasting long if indeed he has sold it. This area is surging. A new 6 story is supposedly replacing White Castle sometime soon (directly across from this house), the condensed milk factory condo conversion right down the street should occur soon, there is a new 6 story going up behind me on Maspeth and the new 4 story building by the park on Orient is getting ready to start. Makes me wish in some ways that our little Orient Ave was landmarked.
