Brookland Capital, Boaz Gilad’s development company that now has more than 40 projects active in Brooklyn, bought 691 Marcy Avenue Friday. They took over the stalled project from a previous developer and shared with us renderings of what the eight-story, 41-unit apartment building will look like once it’s finished.

They are planning condos, not rentals. “The market is very strong for condos now,” because there are so few being built in Brooklyn at the moment, said Brookland Capital co-owner Assaf Fitoussi. The now-empty lot was once home to a two-story warehouse that was demolished in 2012.

The architect of record on permits approved last summer is Franklyn Estrella Architects of South Williamsburg. What do you think of the design? Click through to the jump for more.

  1. AS FAR AS NEW CONDOS GO, I THINK THIS IS AS GOOD AS YOU CAN HOPE FOR. ITS BRICK AND NOT A BOX, BUT NOT OVERLY WEIRD…. OBVIOUSLY LOW RISE TOWNHOUSES WOULD BE BETTER. THAT BEING SAID, IM SURPRISED IT IS ZONED UP TO 8 STORIES THERE, MOST ZONINGS LIKE THAT ARE PAST BEDFORD….
