164-SOUTH-OXFORD

A historic but not landmarked grouping of Fort Greene buildings on three lots marketed as a development site for $8,950,000 has sold for $7,500,000, according to The New York Observer. The 1865 Italianate brick house, a carriage house and a garage at 164 South Oxford Street will likely be torn down or added onto to create a dozen or two luxury condos, the story said. The “picture-book pretty” and country air of the rambling property, owned by Belgian artist Marc Lambrechts, is probably doomed.

Lambrechts said he tired of maintaining the property and plans to buy another brownstone in perfect condition at 169 Adelphi Street as well as a Dallas commercial property whose tenant is a Hooters.
