This two-family brick at 419 Halsey looks like the kind of house brownstone hunters always say they want: It’s been in the same family for a few generations, appears to be in decent condition, and has not been flipped. There are tons of original details, including wood work, mantels, shutters and what looks like at least two original windows. The listing says nothing about mechanicals and there are no pictures of bathrooms.

Going by the photos only, we’d say you could move in as-is, but most buyers will want to do a top-to-bottom renovation. The floor plan could be set up better for the two-family it is, or it could be reconfigured as an owner’s duplex over a rental or as a one-family. We’d recommend getting rid of that dropped ceiling in the second bedroom, the paneling and tile in the kitchen, and stripping the wood work.
