A tipster sent us a rendering of the five-story brick apartment building that is planned for 61 Park Place in Park Slope, where a small 19th-century brick building once stood. Marketing for the site, which sold last year for $5,750,000, said it was wide enough for “four luxury townhouses” but instead the developer opted to build a five-story, 17-unit, mixed-use brick building. The architect is Shiming Tam, and it is supposed to finish in spring 2015, according to the notice posted on the site. Right now it looks like they are working on the foundation. The ground floor has all the charm of a brick warehouse. It’s a pity that this attractive block wasn’t landmarked.
