We took a tour of the long-delayed rental development at 64 Bayard, which starts leasing today. Halstead Property Development Marketing will release 20 of the building’s 53 units today, and expects to release more of them over the weekend. They already have a waiting list of 90 people. The development is actually two six-story buildings — 64 Bayard and 61 Richardson — housing 28 and 25 units respectively.

Most of the units are one-bedroom apartments, with a couple studios, two- and three-bedrooms thrown in. The apartments range from $2,900 a month for a 549-square-foot studio to $8,900 a month for a 1,274-square-foot three-bedroom, two-bath penthouse unit with a private roof terrace. Three units on the first floor — a two-bedroom and two one-bedrooms —  are renting for $5,950 and $4,600 because each of them has an 800-square-foot private patio. However, 64 Bayard’s average apartment is a 750-square-foot one-bedroom that rents for about $3,400 a month. Witold Brend of Brend Development Corporation has been the developer since the project was announced six years ago, and GreenbergFarrow architects designed the two buildings.

The apartments have triple-paned windows for noise reduction, white oak floors, 9- to 10-foot ceilings, Bosch stainless steel microwaves, dishwashers and washer/dryers, as well as caesarstone countertops. Shared amenities include a roof deck, parking garage and bike storage. It’s also across the street from the renovated McCarren Pool and skate park, and down the road from the rest of McCarren Park.
