The scaffolding is down at the Sephora storefront in the downtown Brooklyn Municipal Building, and they put up a sign announcing that they plan to open in November (pictured after the jump). The cosmetics chain signed a lease on the 7,000-square-foot ground floor corner spot in June, getting 1,300 square foot of storage in the bargain. Developer United American Land is currently renovating the building and asking $140 per square foot in rent. YogaWorks also signed a lease for 5,000 square feet on the lower level, helping make the building into what the New York Post called a “women’s power center.”

  1. So is it that the city sold this building? Isn’t the marriage bureau/clerk’s office there along with the Department of Buildings? The entrance to the subway closed sometime in the early 1990s to mid; the building had primarily city tenants, ie., the NYC Law Department and the Brooklyn DA’s. Perhaps it was a safety concern?
