This 1826 Federal style shingle house at 104 Willow Street in Brooklyn Heights could be so great. It’s 25.5 feet wide and 66 feet deep, has seven working fireplaces with (as far as we know) original mantels, and elegant wood work. Unfortunately, a recent peppy, contemporary, spare-no-expenses renovation strikes us as out of place. On the plus side, though, the renovation did revamp the house’s structure, mechanicals and facade, and added central air. The ask is on the high side for the neighborhood, just $500,000 short of the final sale price for 70 Willow Street, where Truman Capote once lived, or $12,000,000. What do you think of it?

  1. Congratulations, Brooklyn (Heights)! Some of your houses are more expensive than some in prime areas of Manhattan.
This house is $1,900 sq ft.
similar sized houses can be found in the village for less.

    • You’re kidding, right???? This house is a short block from the center of the promenade and would be considered to be in a prime heights location. The going rate for brownstones on the promenade is 10 million plus. Killer views of manhatten but quieter than almost anywhere in manhatten.
