Ditmas Park
Ditmas Park Corner takes a peek inside the old Vox Pop space at 1022 Cortelyou Road. Ben Heemskerk, the man behind The Castello Plan and Collyer’s Mansion, plans to open an Italian restaurant there. The menu will feature a selection of pizzas and pastas. According to DPC, “It will be less dimly lit date night material than Castello, and more family-oriented, seating 60 people inside and 25 people outside.” Photo by Ditmas Park Corner.

Park Slope
Kemistry Bar and Lounge will try to open on Flatbush Avenue as a kid’s arcade. The SLA recently denied the business a liquor license after protest from neighbors. The New York Kid’s Club is now open at 125 5th Avenue. The space features classrooms, two gyms, two parent waiting centers, a “culinary institute” and a dance studio. A gourmet cake pop shop called Fabipops just opened at 60 4th Avenue. The cake flavors include birthday cake, s’mores, cotton candy and winter breeze. The Duke of Montrose Bar, which Here’s Park Slope calls a “full-on Scottish pub,” opened last night on the corner of 5th Avenue and Bergen. And Bar 4, which has been operating on 7th Avenue for 14 years, will close August 15th.

Elsewhere
A 7-11 is planned for Bath Beach, at the former Shell gas station and Food Mart on 20th Avenue and Cropsey Avenue.
