Last week Home/Made held its grand reopening after recovering from Hurricane Sandy. Sandy pretty much ruined the restaurant’s interior and fried the electrical work. It’s been open for brunch and special events but last week marked the first time the popular joint returned to regular dinner hours, too. Photo via Twitter. In other Sandy-related news, the owner of Dumbo’s well-known River Cafe hopes to reopen the establishment later this summer.

North Brooklyn
Fork in the Road gets an early taste of The Elm, the new restaurant at the King and Grove Hotel. The menu is separated into raw, sea, land, and share categories, with dishes like roasted chicken, pork belly, and a $48 vegetable tasting plate. Williamsburg’s Academy Record Annex is moving to 83 Oak Street, in Greenpoint, this September. And the DIY music/art venue Big Snow shuttered in Bushwick with no plans to reopen.

Park Slope
Olivier French-Bistro is now open on 4th Avenue between 11th and 10th streets. Right now it’s operating as a cafe; brunch will begin this weekend, and dinner service is coming soon. Italian gelato biz L’Albero dei Gelati is now serving scoops at 341 5th Avenue. According to Here’s Park Slope, the “gelato is all made in house from organic, natural, and seasonal ingredients, in traditional varieties like blueberry, raspberry, straciatella, gianduia, peach, coffee, and pistachio, as well as some more out-there styles like licorice, yellow bell pepper, and blue cheese.” Zuzu Ramen, located on the corner of 4th Avenue and Degraw, is up for sale. The SLA denied Kemistry Lounge a liquor license on Flatbush Avenue due to overwhelming community opposition. On Flatbush Avenue, new Caribbean restaurant Ideya is now serving lunch.
