North Brooklyn

Also in Bushwick, Wyckoff Heights rounds up a number of openings and closings — Caskey’s Tavern closed but will reopen with new owners, and a new venture called King Noodle just received a liquor licence at 1045 Flushing Avenue. Bushwick Daily tours The Sampler, a new craft beer emporium open at 234 Starr Street. Greenpointers interviews one of the owners of The Bounty, Greenpoint’s newest seafood restaurant. Also in Greenpoint, Grub Street checks out Luksus, the 26-seat tasting-menu restaurant located in the back of Torst. It’ll open July 16th.

Park Slope
South Slope News reported that Mezini, the restaurant and raw bar that just opened on 5th Avenue, has mysteriously closed up shop, but it was spotted open yesterday. L’Albero dei Gelati is under construction on 5th Avenue between 4th and 5th Streets and HPS reports that it will open on July 18. The small pharmacy called Health Aid, located on 7th Avenue between 7th and 8th streets, has shuttered. And the owner of the Grand Prospect Hall announced that he has not given up on his plans to build an 11-story, 150-room hotel and 400-space parking garage, despite the outcry from neighbors when they first heard the plan two years ago.

Elsewhere
Eater spots signage on the Columbia Street Waterfront for Andy Ricker’s Whisky Soda Lounge, under construction only a few doors down from Pok Pok NY. Vegetarian Palate moved from its Flatbush Avenue location to 603 Washington Avenue in Prospect Heights. Brooklyn Heights Blog wonders about the long-empty storefront space at 112 Montague Street, which was formerly a Starbucks.
