Coming up this month: the 5th Annual Brooklyn Waterfront Epic Ride, a 40-mile bike ride from Greenpoint to Rockaway Beach. The ride showcases the potential of a fully completed greenway along the Brooklyn and Queens waterfronts, which is slowly coming into form. The route will be marked, allowing riders to travel in a group that moves at their own pace. This year’s route has been slightly altered due to Hurricane Sandy, but bikers will still travel through the neighborhoods that have been rebuilding since. At the very end there’s an after party at Rockaway Beach with live music and food from the newly re-opened Rockaway food vendors. The epic ride is scheduled for Saturday, July 27th but registration closes on Wednesday, July 17th. General admission is $35 and teams of four pay $120 — proceeds benefit the Brooklyn Greenway Initiative. Check out details and register for the event here.
