Park Slope
Sad news for the Slope/Gowanus: burger restaurant Root Hill Burger is closing after only seven months in business. It will be replaced with the Pickle Shack, a new bar and restaurant serving pickles, sandwiches, and Dogfish Head Brewery beer. It’ll be run by the Brooklyn Brine folks, who plan to sell “crazy, new, and inventive pickles.” Photo by the North Brooklyn Compost Project. Patch checks out Skate Brooklyn, a new skateboard shop on St. Marks Place. The vintage shop Odd Twin is up for sale. The owner plans to leave the business to give birth to her second kid. And Canvas Cafe, a cafe and gallery space, is getting ready to open at 348 6th Street.

Ditmas Park
Burger joint Ox Cart Tavern had to shutter for a little while after a DOH inspection. Ditmas Park Corner checked out Brooklyn Belly, a new restaurant at 915 Cortelyou Road featuring seafood and Southern-inspired fare. It’ll be open very soon. They also got inside Wheated, the new pizza joint under construction on Church Avenue. Finally, Konstantino’s Crepe et la Vie is expected to open soon. The creperie has been quiet since a soft opening a few weeks ago.

Elsewhere
Crown Heights is getting a BBQ joint at 813 Nostrand Avenue and a Crunch Gym on Empire and Utica. A boutique just opened at 670 Flatbush Avenue, in Prospect Lefferts Gardens. And Collections, a vintage clothing store, is now open in Bushwick.
