The owner of Stocked, a new take-out/dine-in sandwich shop located at 635 Vanderbilt Avenue, got in touch to let us know they’ve been serving in the neighborhood for a few weeks now. Here’s what they’re offering: a breakfast menu with muffins, scones, and empanadas, a variety of sandwiches and salads, and prepared food like rotisserie chicken, mac and cheese, turkey meatloaf and salmon burgers. Sandwich choices include capicola  with provolone and broccoli rabe, roast beef with beets and horseradish, and roasted turkey with manchego and apple onion jam. They are open Monday through Friday from 8 am to 8 pm, and Saturday and Sunday from 9 am to 6 pm. So who’s checked it out? You can see more pictures of the space, and the menu, at the Stocked Facebook page.

I did not say I want “cheap chicken.” I said their pricing was out of character with the neighborhood thus making their claims of community and localism questionable. I wish them luck (really).
I think you are misjudging the area and the type of businesses it will support. Good luck. Hope you have deep pockets.
All true, but consider that the rotisserie chicken is more than double the price of local markets and more than any local restaurant that I’m aware of. Maya, just down the road from Stocked, charges $11.50 and includes rice, beans, and tortillas.
