Yesterday brought tons of news regarding changes coming to Brooklyn Bridge Park. First off, Curbed posted 11 renderings of condo buildings proposed for the vacant site just east of the Manhattan Bridge, 1 John Street. BBP asked the architects to come up with a 101,000-square-foot building that could hold up to 130 units, ground floor retail, and parking, with a height limit of 130 feet. Above, one of the more interesting proposals from Team Ten (the presentation does not list the participating architects). The park’s Community Advisory Committee will be ready with feedback for each design by late June, and should pick a project by this summer. You can check out the extensive presentation from Brooklyn Bridge Park — in PDF form — right here. And then Dumbo NYC posted images of the final design for Main Street in Dumbo. Brooklyn Bridge Park plans to redesign a total of 37,617 square feet in the Main Street section of the park, at Washington Street. Michael Van Valkenburgh Associates worked on the design, which includes public restrooms, a nature facility, and more landscaping beyond the park’s DEP building. Here is the PDF presentation by Brooklyn Bridge Park. These plans still need to go through the Public Design Commission before they can become a reality. See the renderings after the jump.
