    Brooklyn Creates
    Brooklyn Metal Works and Brooklyn Glass invite the public to an evening of art and design, food and drink, in an exploration of tabletop aesthetics. Sponsored by Brooklyn-based Smorgasburg’s Landhaus, and Bitter & Esters, the city’s first DIY brewery, this event will showcase farm to table food and homemade brews served from hand crafted glass and metal tableware. Tickets are $25 and can be purchased on Brown Paper Tickets or at the door. Where: Brooklyn Glass Studio, 142 13th Street. When: Saturday, March 9, 7 pm to 9 pm.

    Forgotten New York: Talk and Trolley Tour at Green-Wood Cemetery
    Join architect David Grider for a talk at Green-Wood Cemetery, as he details his fascinating research journey into the Lower East Side foundry of James Gregory and its influence on American history. From the USS Monitor to the famous 1885 bronze bell used at Coney Island’s Dreamland, Grider uncovers hidden threads, unexpected ties, and tells a rich story of vanished neighborhoods, forgotten industry, and one shopkeeper’s place among it all. The talk will be followed by a trolley tour of related Green-Wood sites, including the resting places of James Gregory himself, Brooklyn Bridge caisson maker Eckford Webb and cast iron great James Bogardus. Meet at the Historic Chapel, 25th Street at 5th Avenue, Saturday, March 9 at 1 pm (goes to 4 pm). The talk is free. Tickets for the trolley tour are $10 for Green-Wood Historic Fund members and $15 for non-members.

    The P.S. 321 First Annual Dog Show!
    On Saturday, March 9 at 2 pm, please bring your best friend to our inaugural dog show at this year’s P.S. 321 Winter Carnival. Enter your pooch in one or more of the following categories and let them strut their stuff on our doggie runway: Best Dressed, Best Couple, Best Named, Most Likely to Succeed, Best Trick, Best Behaved, Best Haircut, Best Bark, Dog who looks most like its owner. Please be sure that your dog has a current license, current immunizations and is on leash. Registration fees are $5 per category, and all proceeds will benefit education and enrichment for P.S. 321 students.

    The Brooklyn Flea
    Every Saturday and Sunday through March 2013, the Brooklyn Flea is at Skylight One Hanson at the former Williamsburg Savings Bank in Fort Greene. Every weekend features 100-plus vendors on three floors selling vintage and handmade items, art and foodstuffs. It’s open from 10 am to 5 pm both days.

    Brooklyn Unplugged Tour of Flatbush
    Brooklyn Unplugged Tours celebrates its launch of the first sightseeing tour of Flatbush, Brooklyn with a Caribbean culture expo hosted by the Flatbush Caton Market. A community event showcasing West Indian culture, it will feature diverse vendor displays, fresh exotic food and a Jamaican band performance. In attendance will be several New York City Council Members and the Deputy Brooklyn Borough President. Saturday March 9th from 12 pm to 5 pm at the Flatbush Caton Market at 794 Flatbush Avenue.

    Vegan Spring Break Shop-Up
    Vegan Shop-Up is a monthly all vegan pop-up market featuring all local vendors, in a not-so-boring place. This Saturday, March 9th it’s at the Pine Box Rock Shop, 12 Grattan Street in Bushwick. From noon to 5 pm. Free!

    Underground Thrift Store Rite of Spring
    Join us for the first look at spring merchandise at the Underground Thrift Store at Plymouth Church on Sunday, March 10. Store hours will be 12:30 pm to 4 pm. Our racks are bursting with the first look at spring items for men, women and children. Spring designer duds at gentle prices. The Underground Thrift Store features a curated collection of upscale and designer clothing and accessories for women, men and children and beautiful collectibles for the home, in the loft space in historic Plymouth Church.
