The 60-unit rental building at 267 Pacific Street is going up, and it’s on track for an April 2014 debut. Tim Quinlan of the Quinlan Development Group filled us in on more details: The lot is 66,000 square feet, and the build will include parking in the basement, ground-floor retail and a rooftop terrace. Rental units on the ground floor will have private yards. A rendering isn’t available yet, but Quinlan said they wanted the design to be contextual with the neighborhood while still remaining distinctive. They are currently using a designer with Brooklyn connections to create the building’s light fixtures. And despite us thinking that the property had frontage on both Pacific Street and Atlantic Avenue, this building will only front Pacific. The back lot, along Atlantic Avenue, has a different owner, who may eventually build retail space although there are no imminent plans to do so. We also heard that the big empty lot on the corner of Atlantic Avenue and Boerum Place, slated to be a two-story commercial space, is still pre-leasing.

  1. Are you suggesting rent control should be done with? Most of the people living in these buildings have been there a lot longer than you and are native New Yorkers. When a neighborhood suddenly becomes trendy the newcomers want to get rid of those that have lived there forever. It was ‘their’ neighborhood long before you moved in. I am sure most of these people do not wish to live next to you either. Now they pay a lot more for groceries and other necessities. New York is a melting pot. It is was gives it such flavor and makes it a special place to live. I suggest you move back to Ohio, perhaps then you won’t have to live next neighbors in a rent control building…
