After spending the last two seasons at The Edge on the Williamsburg waterfront, the Brooklyn Flea will be moving its Saturday food market known as Smorgasburg as well as its Sunday flea market one block north to the East River State Park this Spring. The Flea will be setting up shop in the southeastern corner of the park at North 7th Street and Kent Avenue on an old concrete slab that’s approximately the same size as its former location at The Edge and its flagship spot in Fort Greene. “We are thrilled to welcome the Flea to East River State Park,” said State Parks Commissioner Rose Harvey in a press release earlier today.”Already fast becoming a centerpiece of the community, this addition will draw even more people and add to what we fully expect will be a spring and summer full of exciting, community-oriented events and programs at this park.” The weekly line-up will remain the same: Smorgasburg on Saturdays and the Flea on Sundays. (The Flea will continue on Saturdays in Fort Greene and Smorgasburg on Sundays in the Tobacco Warehouse in Brooklyn Bridge Park.) “Staying on the Williamsburg waterfront in this vibrant community is a big priority for us, and we love that the markets will now support one of New York’s truly great parks,” said Jonathan Butler aka Mr. B. “And who can argue with that view!”
