The main branch of the Brooklyn Public Library is hosting a workshop sure to be of interest to Brownstoner readers: it’s called Introduction to Buildings Research and it will teach you the tools to research materials on a building’s history. According to the class description, “this class will provide an overview of the kinds of information you can expect to find when researching your building, and where you can go to find it, including resources available at the library, like Sanborn insurance maps and the Brooklyn Daily Eagle newspaper as well as online portals like the city’s Department of Buildings’ BIS database and the Municipal Archives tax photo collection.” It will be held next week on Wednesday, February 20th from 7 pm to 9 pm at the brand new learning lab in the Shelby White and Leon Levy Information Commons.
