The four-story, 22 foot-wide Carroll Gardens brick townhouse that was listed for $4,099,000 sold just a hair shy of the asking price for $4,025,000. When this was a House of the Day back in September, commenters were impressed with the renovation but skeptical about the price. One reader wrote, “This is NOT a premier block, and you will have the privilege of paying the highest price ever paid on that block to date (and for a long, long, long time).” Back in the fall it was the priciest listing in the neighborhood and even now no listings there are topping the $3,000,000 mark. The owners did well for themselves — they nearly doubled the $2,025,000 they paid for the home in 2006. Is this an outlier or a harbinger of things to come?
