Last night around 6:20 pm, we came upon a police scene on the Union Street Bridge over the Gowanus Canal. Fire trucks, police cars and a helicopter were at the canal for about 45 minutes before they recovered a woman from the water. Last night Gothamist reported that a “woman became submerged in the Superfund site at around 5:48… the woman was transported to New York Methodist Hospital, but her condition was unknown.” When she was brought out of the canal and carried to the ambulance she was covered in a sheet, but the word last night was that she was conscious. No new intel this morning, but we’ll keep you updated as any news arises.
