Almondine Bakery’s Post-Sandy Pop-up Fundraiser
Award-winning Almondine Bakery announces a two-day pop-up event to raise funds to rebuild its bakery after the devastating effects of Hurricane Sandy. The best pastry chefs of New York City are rallying in support of Almondine’s owner, pastry chef Hervé Poussot – donating the finest cakes, pastries, and chocolates for sale at this event. The pop-up will take place on Saturday, Dec. 15 and Sunday, Dec. 16 from 10 am to 6 pm in Almondine’s still-shuttered Dumbo shop at 85 Water Street.

The 2012 Jingle Bell Jamboree
Celebrate the holidays at the 12th annual Jingle Bell Jamboree, a fun family concert event and sing-a-long set for Sunday, Dec. 16 at 5 pm at Congregation Beth Elohim at Eighth Avenue and Garfield Place. The musical extravaganza will feature performances from a variety of performing ensembles, including The Mark Morris Dance Group Student Company, The Brooklyn Community Chorus, Spoke the Hub Dance, the P.S. 97 Chorus, the St. Joseph High School Step Team and the Old First Family String Band. The event is open to all, with a suggested donation of $5 for children or $10 for adults to help cover the expenses of the participating groups and Congregation Beth Elohim.

P.S. 84 Greenhouse Fundraiser
Please join P.S. 84 for a unique collaboration and one-time-only sound and sculpture performance by two of Williamsburg’s most influential artists. The event is a fundraiser for Williamsburg’s P.S. 84 rooftop hydroponic greenhouse classroom. Musician Tunde Adebimpe, lead singer of TV on the Radio, and internationally acclaimed sculptor and light artist Ivan Navarro will come together to create the experimental work “OÍDO.” The performance will take place Dec. 15 at 6:30 pm at Saints Peter and Paul Theater at 288 Berry Street. Gifted Holiday Market
For every Saturday and Sunday through March 2013, the Brooklyn Flea is at Skylight One Hanson at the former Williamsburg Savings Bank in Fort Greene. This weekend, and the five weekends leading up to Christmas, the Gifted Holiday Market features 100-plus vendors on three floors selling vintage and handmade items, art and foodstuffs for perfect presents and holiday-party additions. It’s open from 10 am to 6 pm both Saturday and Sunday.

Pedal Power and Solar Cooking Demo
Sunday Dec. 16 from 11 am to 2 pm
 at the Cortelyou Greenmarket (on the corner of Cortelyou and Argyle), Sustainable Flatbush brings a fun and delicious twist to being green at the Cortelyou Greenmarket with a demonstration of its bike blender and solar oven! Everyone is welcome to join in the fun using human-powered energy to pedal-puree fresh seasonal ingredients from market vendors for a delicious soup, which will be paired with fresh bread baked using energy from the sun.

Home for the Holidays – A Krrb Pop-up Shop
In the spirit of the season, Home for the Holidays, a Krrb Pop Up Production, is opening its doors to shoppers of all shapes and sizes. Featuring independent sellers from all over the country, the cozy shop comes in the form of a loft apartment, and houses plenty of gifts for everyone on your list. The curated selection includes big-ticket furniture items from businesses like Circa 60, Furnish Green and Brooklyn Reclamation, as well as home goods, both vintage and handmade, from SuperDeluxe and RetroSchmetro.
