Rental of the Day: 23 St. Francis Place

We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again: east of Franklin Avenue is most definitely Crown Heights, not Prospect. But despite the incorrect neighborhood listing, this is sure to catch the attention of renters who want to be close to the hustle and bustle of Franklin Avenue. It’s a three-bedroom apartment in a cute townhouse with details to boot, priced at only $2,200 a month. And only one block away from the Franklin Avenue 2, 3, 4, and 5 trains! We give this a week on the market at most.

  • Washington is the eastern border of Prospect Heights, not Franklin. This is well-established.

  • So east of Franklin is even more unarguably CH! Guess this is ProCro, which some slimy companies are actually using in listings. grrrr!

  • Who cares what neighborhood its in? Clinton hill used to be called Bed Stuy but nobody calls it that anymore and if you try to call it Bed Stuy you get snobby brownstoners complaining. Same with northside of Williamsburg, used to be Greenpoint. Its all irrelevant now.

  • I prefer Crow Hill for a micro-neighborhood name. Crow Hill is part of Crown Heights, most definitely. It’s also what many of the old timers call it, and what the Crow Hill neighborhood organization calls it. It may have had a derogatory origin, Crows+prison+old shantytown with both black and poor ethnic Europeans, and all, but sometimes embracing a name takes away the sting. Look at Hell’s Kitchen. Anyway, this is a great block, and looks like a nice apartment.

  • Washington Realty of all people know better but they have been there so long, they haven’t realized that Crown Heights is no longer a dirty word…this should indeed go fast
