Check out this surprising development at 174 Clinton Avenue in Clinton Hill. Remember the legal curb cut there five years ago? Now the owner has removed the garage and installed some incongruous windows and cement block. Two separate readers sent in photos of the work in progress. Perhaps the intention is to create more living or renting space? A permit filed back in 2005 said renovation plans include installing commercial and restaurant space in basement. In 2007, owner Stuart Venner, a real estate investor who owns other properties in Brooklyn, put the house on the market for $2,500,000, but property records show no deed of sale recorded since then. According to permit filings, Venner appears to still be the owner.
