Rental of the Day: 420 12th Street

The apartments at the Ansonia Court co-op building in Park Slope tend to be pretty unusual, and this unit is no exception. The high, exposed beam ceilings and big windows are hard not to love, but why are there photos only of the kitchen? More please! This two-bedroom, two-bath duplex is asking $4,500 a month.

  • I love this building, but i think the windows should have been double hung with mutton, to me that would look more like what would have been there, not the sliding windows with the little compartment below, that looks somewhat silly.

But the apartments are great, love the timber beams and all.

  • I rented there a few years ago and the walls were really thin. You could hear everything your neighbors were up to.

  • Not sure why a comment that hanging sheep meat in the windows would help the ambiance … as far I remember, it was a clock factory, not a butcher shop.

When I looked at apartments there when looking to buy, they always seemed good in theory, but always seemed cold and lifeless to me.
