Openhousenewyork is an organization that promotes a greater appreciation of the city’s built environment; broadens public awareness by exposing diverse audiences to distinctive examples of architecture, engineering and design; educates and inspires discussion of issues of excellence in design, planning and preservation; and showcases outstanding new work as well as structures of historic merit. Greene Hill Fall Celebration
To help ring in the autumn harvest season, the 100 percent member-owned and operated Greene Hill Food Co-op is joining together with Sound Liberation Front to host a fall celebration. The event will take place: Saturday, Oct. 6, from noon to 6 pm, in the spacious backyard of the store. (The event is relocated from the originally planned site at nearby Putnam Triangle.) The co-op will also be open to non-members for a special shopping day Saturday.

Bed Stuy Alive
The 8th Annual Bed Stuy Alive! will take place from Oct. 6 through Oct. 20, celebrating the rich history and diversity of the Bedford Stuyvesant community. With the theme of Live Healthy, Live Well, Live Green, the fourteen days of happenings will include the Gala Kick-off Street Festival, live jazz, workshops for seniors, a food and wellness day, an evening of African music, the Annual House Tour and the Annual Studio Strut. Savor Bed-Stuy Restaurant Taste will span the two weeks, and people from all over are invited to dine in over fifty participating eateries. On Saturday, Oct. 6, the Gala Kick-off Street Festival will be held on Fulton Street (between Brooklyn and New York avenues) starting at 10 am.

Brooklyn Flea + Smorgasburg
Smorgasburg is now at its second weekly location in Brooklyn Bridge Park, at the historic Tobacco Warehouse in Dumbo. It’ll be open every Sunday from 11 am to 6 pm through Nov. 18. Of course, on Saturday, the Flea is held at 176 Lafayette Avenue (between Clermont and Vanderbilt avenues) in Fort Greene. On Sunday, the Flea will be at 27 North 6th Street (between Kent Avenue and the East River). Saturday at the Williamsburg location is also the home of our all-food market, Smorgasburg. The Flea features over 150 vendors offering a great mix of vintage, antiques, jewelry and amazing food. Flea: Saturday and Sunday, 10 am to 5 pm. Smorg: Saturday, 11 am to 6 pm. Free.
