The Upstater: Bed and Breakfasts
Fridays at 11, The Upstater website brings you a selection of houses for rent or sale north (and a little east or west) of New York City. This week: bed and breakfasts, or houses zoned to be them, or good candidates to become them.

Sunrise Bed and Breakfast, $849,000
The Sunrise Bed and Breakfast is in the village of Jeffersonville, in western Sullivan County — very rural, pastoral, close to the Delaware River. It has seven bedrooms and seven-and-a-half baths, set on 47 acres, with three buildings: the main Sunrise house, the guest house and the cottage.

The house was originally built in 1875, with a renovation in 1999. There’s also an in-ground swimming pool, a wraparound porch and reasonable taxes: less than $10,000 for all this. Just goes to show you how far your money can go in Sullivan County.

Although this estate, built in 1859, is not technically a B and B, it’s being marketed as one, and we think now is a great time to consider such a business in Beacon. It has everything you could ever want in a getaway, from a pool to a massage room, beautiful grounds and even a caretaker’s cottage. Taxes are reasonable-ish, at around $16,000.
