Another Step Forward for Huge Greenpoint Build

Looks like the 22-acre, 4,000-unit, 10-tower mega development planned for the Greenpoint waterfront may begin construction soon. Greenpointers pointed out last week that the Boardwalk Empire set on site is moving out. And representatives from the developer, the Park Tower Group, said ground could break here as early as next summer. The plans in place call for 10 mixed-use towers with 20 percent of the 4,000 units priced affordably. Plans also include public green space, a pedestrian bridge to connect Greenpoint and Long Island City, a new East River Marina, a putting green and an ice skating rink. The development itself will have a pool, hot tub, barbecue area, and a long list of amenities that includes a golf simulator. And as Greenpointers points out, the site is right next to 65 Commerical, the parking lot looking for developers to turn it into a park. Pretty transformative for this neighborhood once construction starts up, we’d say.
