The Myrtle Avenue Brooklyn Partnership celebrates Artober with events and public art in Fort Greene through this month and beyond. A reception forĀ Akihiro Ito’s wooden sculpture, “Tomorrow,” located in the northeast corner of Fort Greene Park, pictured above, takes place Wednesday, Oct. 24, at 6:30 pm at the Cielo Bar and Lounge. At the same time, the work of six artists is displayed in nine storefronts along Myrtle Avenue from Vanderbilt to Classon, comprising the “This Is Brooklyn” exhibit. This month, 50 new artist-designed tree guards and benches, all different, will be installed all along Myrtle Avenue, in addition to the 40 that were installed last year. Nine exhibitions are ongoing at various Myrtle businesses and the Navy Yard. The Myrtle Avenue Brooklyn Partnership has all the details.
