Fridays at 11:00, the Upstater website brings you a selection of houses within three hours north (and a little bit east or west) of New York City. This week: round, or round-ish, homes — we’ll do a couple of octagons, too.

21 Walnut Street, Catskill

Here we have the Octagon House in Catskill, which is truly a beaut, and priced at $459,000 because its two “park-like” acres are between some fairly busy roads.

But will you care once you’re inside, luxuriating on your spiral staircase to the “sky lantern?” Four bedrooms, 1.75 baths, 3,700 square feet and taxes around $6,300. We looked at it in January, and the asking price has not been reduced.

243 Tilden Street, Port Ewen

Less glamorous than the Octagon House, but eye-catching nonetheless, is this circular home in Port Ewen, just south of Kingston.

Obviously its biggest draw is not the decor (you will not suffer envy over the kitchen) but the location, which has beautiful water views and access. 190 feet of Hudson River frontage, to be exact. It has three bedrooms and three baths, and has seen 26-foot sailboats launch from out front. Any sailors out there?

167 Hunters Lane, Roxbury

It’s a pre-fab yurt, make no mistake, and it’s affordable: $134,000 at last count. It has two bedrooms, one bath, a deck and lovely mountain views. Pretty cute, yes?
