East River State Park has installed two bike racks donated by the Brooklyn Flea inside the 7th Street entrance of the East River State Park. FERSP Co-Chair Jackie Meyer tells the Greenpoint Gazette, “It’s win-win. It’s good for Brooklyn Flea because their customers get free parking, and it’s good for us because people don’t damage the park fence by parking their bikes on it. The turnover is great; up to 100 bikers use it a day.” FERSP is working on installing more bike racks on North 6th and 7th streets. The new racks with Birdie NYC, the mascot of GreeNYC, are pictured above.
