Today the Brooklyn Botanic Gardens announced the 2012 winners of Brooklyn’s Greenest Block competition. First place for residential: Lincoln Road between Bedford and Rogers Avenues, in Prospect Lefferts Gardens (you can see photos over at Gothamist). First place for commercial: A tie between Cortelyou Road between Westminster Road and Argyle Road in Ditmas Park and Newkirk Plaza between Newkirk and Foster Avenues in Flatbush (see pics at Ditmas Park Corner). The greenest storefront goes to Brooklyn Hearth Realty at 1207 Cortelyou Road; the best tree beds are on Bainbridge Street between Malcolm X Boulevard and Stuyvesant Avenue in Bed Stuy; best window box display is a tie between Barbara and David Arky at 487 10th Street in Park Slope and Diane Kosup at 716 Macon Street in Bed Stuy; and the best community garden streetscape goes to the St. Marks Avenue Prospect Heights Community Garden.
