Finally, a set opening for the Park Slope Library Branch at Sixth Avenue and Ninth Street, which closed for renovations in 2009. The Park Slope Civic Council reports that the branch will reopen shortly after Labor Day. (This February, the library was given a vague fall opening date.) Once open, the library will boast a new ramp, entrance, and furniture, as well as upgraded heating, ventilation, and air-conditioning. It will also have new computer technology, free wireless, and self-check units. There’s interest in forming a “friends group” for the library to help bring programming and other services to this particular branch. If you’re interested, be in touch with Councilmember Brad Lander’s office at (718) 499-1090. There should be a meeting held closer to Labor Day.
