A historically-sensitive makeover is in the cards for 40 Cambridge Place in Clinton Hill. The architects are proposing to fully restore the front facade as per the 1940s tax photo. That means reusing the original wooden clapboard (hiding behind three layers of vinyl siding), adding a wooden porch on the back of the house and installing wooden shingles on the mansard roof; they also are shooting to use thermally-efficient doors and windows. This home was HOTD in January 2011 when it was asking $859,000. According to public records, it sold in April for $550,000 and then again in September for $740,000. The renovation plans were scheduled to be seen by the LPC this past Tuesday, but were ultimately laid over. Above is the proposed rendering, see what the building looks like presently after the jump.
