Brooklyn’s Best Jumpin’ Jazz Fest
Produced in partnership with Circuit Productions Susan Goldbetter, WBGO 88.3FM and Heart of Brooklyn as part of Jazz: Brooklyn’s Beat, the Museum’s 2nd annual Brooklyn’s Best Jumpin’ Jazz Fest celebrates Father’s Day, Juneteenth and Jazz history on Saturday, June 16th. This special “daddy’s day” begins with the opening of artist Robin Miller’s mixed media paintings and family of painted poem illustrations (11:00am), a live performance by harpist, Brandee Younger (1:30pm), documentary screening and Q& A of, We Will See Tomorrow – The Harlem Blues & Jazz Band. Saving the Heritage (3:00pm), a live musical performance by Joey Morant (Harlem Blues & Jazz Band/Lincoln Center Orchestra) presenting a musical tribute to Jazz legend Louis Armstrong (4:00pm) and ends with a special W.O.R.D. UP! with Joey Morant reading from the book When Louis Armstrong Taught Me Scat by author Muriel Weinstein (4:30pm). At the Brooklyn Children’s Museum, 145 Brooklyn Avenue.

Concierto & Festival Tipico
The Brooklyn Arts Council presents the third annual Concierto & Festival Tipico of Sunset Park. This multi-cultural, family oriented event reflects the diversity of Brooklyn. Performers include the legendary Johnny “El Caballo” Ventura from the Dominican Republic, Latin salsa singers Paquito Guzman and Hector Trichoche, and ballet folklorico dancers Mano a Mano. The event features Latin American food vendors and a wide range of arts and crafts. June 16, 12 noon – 6pm, 58th Street Pier (58th Street and 2nd Avenue).

Brooklyn Flea + Smorgasburg
The Flea and Smorgasburg are on as usual this weekend. On Saturday, the Flea is held at 176 Lafayette Ave. (between Clermont + Vanderbilt Avenues) in Fort Greene. On Sunday, the Flea will be at 27 North 6th Street (between Kent Avenue + East River). Saturday at the Williamsburg location is also the home of our all-food market, Smorgasburg. The Flea features over a 150 vendors offering a great mix of vintage, antiques, jewelry, and amazing food. Saturday & Sunday, 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. Free.
