The non-profit group Compost for Brooklyn held its annual block party in Kensington yesterday. To celebrate, ‘cuz that’s how they roll, members pitched in to create a 7,000-pound pile of compost using food scraps as well as wood shavings from local woodworkers and landscapers. The compost mostly ends up getting used for a network of community-based projects like the Red Hook Community Farm, Brooklyn Grange and Projects EATS but the public can also get their hands on some at Build It Green! and the Union Square Greenmarket. Great stuff!
