This item from Community Board 6’s coming Land Use Meeting caught our attention: “Presentation and review of a Certificate of Appropriateness application submitted to the Landmarks Preservation Commission for the construction of new townhouse buildings at 110-120 Congress Street and the restoration of buildings at 122-128 Congress Street, collectively known as 118 Congress Street, (southeast corner Congress/Hicks Streets), Cobble Hill Historic District.” These are the parcels bought up by Williamsburg’s 184 Kent developer for $6.6 million back in March. The total footprint of the assemblage comes in at 18,000 square feet. Our guess is that the new buildings proposed will mirror those being restored (see a picture of 122-28 Congress after the jump), but if you want to see for yourself the meeting is tonight at 6pm, 339 Hicks Street, Rooms C & D. The buildings previously belonged to the Roman Catholic Diocese of Brooklyn.
