The State Liquor Authority held the second, and presumably final, hearing last night on the Barclays Center application for a full liquor license. At particular issue was the issue of whether the operator would be allowed to serve alcohol as late as 2 a.m. despite failure to disclose the plans for late-night service at community meetings earlier this spring and policies at other metropolitan area arenas that cut off service much earlier (usually around 10 p.m.). About 50 people showed up to the evening meeting in Harlem, with about 12 in support, 17 against and the balance composed of representatives of elected officials and news organizations. Both CB2 and CB6 reiterated their formal, if tepid, support and a rep for Forest City Ratner apologized for bad communications. There’s no point in trying to duplicate or even summarize the detailed account of the meeting from Atlantic Yards Report, so we suggest you check out this post for the play-by-play.
