Pedestrian Islands Going In on Prospect Park West

Right on schedule, the Department of Transportation began building out the pedestrian islands on Prospect Park West. The raised concrete islands will be situated next to crosswalks at nine different intersections along PPW: Carroll Street, Garfield Place, First Street, Third Street, Fifth Street, Seventh Street, Ninth Street, Eleventh Street and Fourteenth Street. Earlier today Brooklyn Spoke shared a photo showing that construction crews had unearthed the old streetcar lines that used to run along the PPW boulevard.
