Yesterday there was news that two eateries are joining Panera in 345 Adams Street in Downtown Brooklyn: Sugar and Plumm and American BBQ and Beer Company. Sugar and Plumm, according to the Eagle, has a store in Paramus, and its website indicates that it’s “a combination restaurant and ice cream parlor, and a hand-crafted chocolate manufacturer and retailer.” (A visit to Yelp reveals that the Paramus location is in a mall.) Meanwhile, American BBQ and Beer Company “is a project of Mark Advent, the creator of the New York, New York hotel and casino in Las Vegas.” The two ventures are expected to open next fall, while Panera is supposed to open in February. All of the tenants so far seem clearly calculated to appeal to tourists staying in the Marriott. As Crain’s notes, Muss Development has signed leases for more than half the 40,000 square feet the company bought from the city and is renovating in the building, so at least the space won’t be sitting empty.

  1. It was a really good idea to redesign this blank facade, which happens to front one of the most trafficked street in the Boro.
Part of what makes Downtown so ugly is this sort of haphazard architectural accidents. A sidewall on a major thoroughfare.
Hopefully the upper floors will get windows too so as to finally help this building deal with its site.
