Rental of the Day: 73 Bainbridge Street, #1
There’s no question that this floor-through one-bedroom at 73 Bainbridge Street in Bed-Stuy is beautiful. The wood detailing is particularly lovely. The pad comes furnished and is only available for rent for two months. It’s got a railroad layout, but it’s not clear if any of the rooms would work as a convertible second bedroom,…

The pad comes furnished and is only available for rent for two months. It’s got a railroad layout, but it’s not clear if any of the rooms would work as a convertible second bedroom, which might make the $2,200/month rent more appealing. Considering that there won’t be a broker fee (it’s FRBO), though, and that it’s furnished, the apartment could make a lot of sense as a short-term rental. Agree?

You took your house off the market, Dave? Good thinking. It’s sure to appreciate and you won’t find a nicer rental now — and certainly not for the price.
As to the pretty look of this sublet, there just aren’t that many nice places in good, original condition in New York, period. I think that’s the problem. Everything was torn out to make way for boarders or “improvements” long ago.
Another thing — the average workmanship of renovations here is poor compared to other places.

Dave I don’t understand it either. I’m not expecting luxury in a rental but something clean and thought out. Hell, I would be over the moon with Ikea fixtures.
I guess a lot of landlords don’t understand that if you put some thought, design and care into your rental you’ll get a higher quality tenant.
i agree. i think a lot of landlords have the same mentality. which is why most apartments in brooklyn are low quality/home depot renovations or are not upgraded.
aren’t you charging below market for your garden apartment?
