Long-Empty Crown Heights Lot Up for Grabs

The empty lot at 341 Eastern Parkway where a development has been slated to rise since 2007 is now for sale. According to Crain’s, the owners of the 4,000-square-foot lot aren’t asking a specific price but are seeking bids by the end of the month. The site has already been approved for a 77,000-square-foot, 8–story development with 63 units. As the article points out, demand is definitely up in the neighborhood, so perhaps a new developer will swoop in quickly.

  • It is about time… This spot has sat as is for quite some time now. Talk about prime real estate, this lot sits in an amazing location in a great neighborhood. I’m sure these units will go for an arm and a leg!

  • Assuming local rental rates continue to rise, it would not surprise me if it was initially rental.

I wish the city taxed vacant land more, so such properties would not remain vacant as long as this one has….

  • Whatever’s built here should be the best possible example of the apartment-house “type.”

What a location! The parkway, a subway at the corner, Brooklyn’s best cultural attractions a short walking distance away.

Please: No formulaic curtain walls and cheap window frames here!

Toss the past couple of designs and start fresh.
