We wanted to be excited by this new brownstone duplex listing at 132 State Street in Brooklyn Heights but frankly the $2,700,000 listing, while no slouch, was a bit of a letdown. For that price for half a house, we were expecting to have our socks knocked off by that perfect mix of period perfection and modern kitchen nirvana. It’s not really the case though. A renovation at some point removed any plaster detail on the ceilings as well as the original fireplace. The design decisions that followed just don’t really work for us. So even though this place is in move-in condition, we suspect most buyers will want to make some aesthetic changes. Given that, the asking price seems like a toughie to us.
